Chapter One

Virgin Territory

Gentle fingertips grazed the edge of her jaw, trailing down her neck to her collarbone. His citrine gaze stared deeply into her eyes, and her body heated at his tender touch.

“You’re okay, yeah?” Thaene asked, his voice hoarse from their lovemaking.

Am I okay? She hardly knew. Though she had nothing to compare it to, this feeling was more than giving her virginity to him. Quinn felt like something bigger inside had stirred to life, wanting to escape.

“You know I love you. I’m sorry if it hurt.” He kissed her again, his lips caressing hers, as if he could take the ache away.

“Say something, Quinn. Please.”

“I love you, Thaene.” She pressed herself into him, passionately returning his affection. As their kiss continued, Quinn wondered if he wanted more. She also wondered if she had more to give.

“I want us together, always. Do you want that, Quinn?” Thaene’s eyes danced with a mixture of emotions—love, passion, possessiveness, and something else she couldn’t name.

“We can have forever. You want that, don’t you?” Thaene asked.

“Yes,” Quinn answered breathlessly, before realizing what she’d agreed to. She smiled, finding his need for her exciting.

“Forever is a long time. But I could do it with you.”

Thaene smiled back. Happiness lit his face. He looked like he’d just won a major prize—he looked triumphant.

“Being with you on your twenty-second birthday was very special to me. You’ve given me such a precious gift.”

“I love you. I can’t imagine my first time with anyone else.”

Besides, my gift of Sight showed you to me, over and over. How could I not give myself to you?

Her gift had shown her something else as well. Since she didn’t understand it, Quinn ignored it. She’d followed her heart where Thaene was concerned. Not even her mother’s dislike—or in spite of it— changed her mind. Following your heart always led you down the right path.

Thaene lightly brushed her hair from her face, then he rested his forehead on hers.

“There’s something else I’d like you to give me. Will you do that? Give me what I desire the most?”

The longing in his voice made Quinn squirm underneath him. Right now, she’d give him anything.

“It’s the most precious gift of all. One I’ll cherish forever.”

Oh my God. He wants to marry me.

“Yes,” Quinn said, drawing in a breath. “I’ll give you anything.”

“Good.” Thaene nuzzled her neck. “I want you to show me your Magyk.”

“What?” Quinn blinked at him, wondering if she’d heard him right.

“If you want us to have forever, you must show me your Magyk.”

Fantasy becomes reality in the internationally bestselling SECRET – the first novel in the enticing, empowering and exciting S.E.C.R.E.T series.

A young widow, Cassie’s life is filled with sadness and regret. She waits tables at the rundown Café Rose in New Orleans, heading home alone each night, yearning for more from her life and wishing she could make it happen.

When Cassie discovers a notebook left behind by a mysterious woman at the café, her world is changed forever. The notebook’s stunningly explicit confessions shock and fascinate Cassie, and eventually lead her to S·E·C·R·E·T, an underground society dedicated to helping women realize their wildest, most intimate sexual fantasies. At the heart of the society is three rules:

As Cassie is set free from her inhibitions, she is transformed by the confidence and passion she’s kept buried deep inside. But can she find the courage to reveal this new side of herself to the one man she never thought she could have?

An irresistible, erotically charged and unforgettable romance series, perfect for fans of E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and Sylvia Day’s Bared to You.

This is Fifty Shades moved on a gear – a grown-up heroine, a more sophisticatedsetting and a much more empowering story
Rating: 3 stars!
This book is as the marketing said, empowering. It got a really good plot and it give a really meaningful advice to women, whether young or mature to embrace themselves.
Cassie is a thirty something divorcee living in New Orleans, and working as a waitress. Since a domestic situation between her and her late ex-husband, it traumatise her to open up and let live in the city of old jazz, New Orleans.
One night, some coincidental moment kickstart her adventure with S.E.C.R.E.T. and changed her life for the better.
For an Erotica book, thee plot of this book is very refreshing. It doesn't focus on the short run of a character's sex life, in fact it turn them for the better. Not in a superficial shallow way either. I really like that. I was shown her work life as well as her sex life, thus making the characters more relatable.

Characters wise, they lack a bit of 'oomph!' in them. Of course it is the goal to see the journey from a low self-esteemed Cassie to a new Cassie, but in some scenes the characters seems so passive and lack of confident, it dimmed the fire for me.
Cassie, is a character i feel a lot of readers could relate to, maybe not literally, but perhaps parts of her. Her journey to be a better person can be seen throughout the book, and it was admirable. I like her friendships with the Commission ladies at The Mansion and her steps journey was quite sizzling!
Will, the owner of Cafe Rose, where Cassie work, is the guy she had a crush for in quite a while. He seems to be quite a sexually unapologetic in earlier of the book, yet as the story progresses, he became a passive person. Which is too bad. I thought Cassie's crush on him was quite weird, given her response back when she first started to work in Cafe Rose. I didn't buy their connection there.
The recruiting of S.E.C.R.E.T. was kind of sketchy, i wouldn't say i'd trust them completely if my choices are only "yes or no" without further information. *reminiscing The Devil's Advocate*
The supporting characters were okay, Readers would like a bit of tasty pastry chef- Jesse or the mysterious millionaire - Pierre. Though one of them turned their ugly trait at the end...
The ending was not up to my taste i'm afraid. I was disappointed she didn't choose the guy i thought she would choose, and it ended up in tears.
Readers, let me tell you, it ended in a better ending. BUT you should read book two, because trust me, it goes better!

I really like this book far more than the first book, even though it was a good book too. It got more depth and it's in two women's perspective - Cassie and a vintage retail shop owner, Dauphine. The story continue right after the ending of S.E.C.R.E.T. though it started in Dauphine's perspective first, so it might confuse you a bit.
After her decision from the ending of the last book, Cassie is trying to pick up the pieces and be the better person and move forward. After a scene with Mark -a musician Dauphine has a crush on, Cassie became Dauphine's guide for her S.E.C.R.E.T. journey. and what a journey it was!
I thought Dauphine's adventure was far more exotic and thrilling than Cassie's. I meant, cockpit with pilot 101?! come on! One could only dream about it (maybe charter a private plane...). Cassie too, has a mess she had to clean up, with the drama from last book wasn't finished. What a dramatic finish it was~ the best drama climax i have ever read yet! There were tears, blood, and some skeleton dragged from it's closet.
yeah, it was messy...
I was introduced with fresh faced men, from Canada, all the way to Scotland, and Latino. Let me tell you peeps, they were not disappointment. (lucky ladies got the sexy men!)
Again, Cassie's choice to repeat the history annoys me. Why did she choose him not others? Clearly he broke her heart last time, surely he wouldn't hesitate to broke it twice.
I'm feeling this book is not the end journey of Cassie. Even though Dauphine got her HEA.
I'm looking forward 'till the next one (if there will be).

Review: All Over You by Beverley Kendall

Description from Amazon UK:

New Adult Romance - recommended for readers 18+ yrs due to sex & language
Sensuality level in this book is high.
This is a college-set romance. The hero is not tattooed or irrevocably damaged and the heroine has not been physically or emotionally abused. There are many good books out there like that in this genre. This is not such a book.

An ex is an ex for a reason

To Rebecca Winters, it's not just a saying or the title to a catchy tune, it's a rule she staunchly lives by. Especially since the break up with herex. What's the point in trying to fix the "unfixable"? Besides, only a girl hell-bent on more heartbreak would go back to the guy who bailed on her when she needed him most. But saying no to Scott is becoming more difficult than surviving the breakup itself. And unfortunately for her, the kind of pressure he's exerting is making her rule all too easy to break.

Scott Carver has given up trying to get over his ex. He's still in love with her and their year apart has done nothing to change that. Yeah, he knows he screwed up. Just how royally, he wasn't aware of until now. So when Becca agrees to give him a second chance, he grabs on to it with both hands. But it's clear the only way things will ever truly be right between them is if he comes clean...about everything. He can only pray the truth doesn't send her running--for good this time.

Rating: 3.5 stars!

I really enjoyed this book, it was a really good story with a hella lot of emotional journey. Both main characters are confident and independent, definitely got the sizzling electric connection between the two yet they have not reveal their skeleton inside their closet towards each other. *cue in the drama!*

Although it is a novella, i thought i could adapt to the story from the first chapter, and i haven't read the first book yet (i will soon). The prose was written quite good, and the characterisation was realistic. I have suspected the conflict from earlier on, with the hints of the dual POV (point of view), BUT Scott's problem was unexpected. i didn't saw that coming!
He fought his devil and what a change it was! it reminded me to not judge people, some people could be an extremely different than they used to be or what they appear to be.

Scott and Rebecca had already broke up in the beginning of this book. (it was for a very sensitive reason), but Scott's understanding of the break up was different than Rebecca, and he want her back. Then begin the adventure of courting her back to convince he is a better person now.

Scott is an admirable hero, he took care of Rebecca even when she is stubborn and he don't drink or do drugs! Of course there's the matter of his physical sexiness,

but lets focus on characteristics first people~ ;D
Scott the good boy is actually a man with many mystery, even Rebecca his girlfriend for a year did not know them. Through the journey, he learnt to let go and trust Rebecca. Thus, the truth shall let him free!

Rebecca is a nice, confident girl who like to have fun with her friend. She is set to not be ruled by her past, but when the history ALMOST repeat itself, it's totally understandable for her to press that panic button before it's all gone messy. It seems to me she can't think straight when it comes to Scott, she went a bit indecisive, weak knees, and barely communicative it's almost an eyerolling situation. Like Scott, Rebecca went through a journey, and the stubborn gal that she is, of course she won't make it easy for Scott to get her good side. So she ask him to play the little baby turtle steps. It was a bit torture for Scott but from it all she learnt to let live and be happy girl!

It was a beautiful ending. *teary eyed* I can't wait to read the series!!

Because I stayed up late trying to finish up a batch, I ended up forgetting to set the alarm. The only reason I wake up is because Dog is running something fierce in his dreams again, maybe looking to catch uncatchable tennis balls. The final blow comes when he kicks me directly in the kidney, making my leg jerk up so that I almost kick him in the face.

“You’re lucky I love you, you furry son-of-a-bitch.”

He gives me a look that tells me to go screw myself and yawns in my face.

It’s past ten and I don’t want to hear crap about missing more classes, so I don’t bother to do anything except brush my teeth and throw on some semi-clean clothes. My skin is probably combustible by this point anyway, so showering won’t make any difference. Then again, maybe I would get lucky and catch fire at some point throughout the day.

At least that would lighten things up.

Hardy har har. Ain’t I clever?

No surprise. The Stooges are already waiting for me in the parking lot when I get to school. Twitching more than usual, Sam Anderson looks like he’s about to pick out the last of his hairs from his head. I guess that’s why he cut it so short to begin with. And I swear if Ryan Fuller’s face breaks out anymore, FEMA will have to declare him a natural disaster area. I can see the signs and yellow caution tape now. Warning: Standing too close to this junkie may cause you to go blind from his ugliness.

And that’s the thing about meth; it makes you ugly, but not just on the outside. We all end up ugly on the outside eventually (don’t get me started about western standards of beauty) but crank makes you ugly on the inside, like evil stepsister ugly. So ugly that I almost forget when we all used to be friends; Sam, Ryan, Luke, and me, before Mom left and Frank started using, and all that other shit. Maybe meth makes it easier to forget. I don’t know.

I must have become too weird for them to hang out with. At least until I had something else to offer them, something that helps Sam and Ryan make weight for wrestling and help Luke make the money for the car he wanted. Then suddenly I’m their best friend again.

Even that didn’t last long, because now their eyes bug, and they itch, and twitch. They bug, itch, twitch and they sell. They sell for me. I know it isn’t smart to shit where you eat, but I keep everything in-check by keeping them in-check. I mean, I don’t even have to pay them; they work for product, for Christ’s sake.

I make them their own batch, battered down and diluted so I get the most use out of them for my buck—so to speak. If anything ever did happen, if they ever did turn me in to save their own asses, all anybody would see is a few strung out losers with a story. It would be my word against theirs. And on paper I’m an honor roll student who has never bothered anyone.

Then there are other ways of getting rid of evidence should I ever need it, so I’m not too worried about The Stooge aspect of business.

I know instantly when I see them that they must be hurting. In a way it’s funny, these guys have no concept of self-control, and they always end up bingeing on what I bring them. Half the time, they want even more than what our original arrangement dedicated and I have to remind them that they’ll have to pay me on top of working for me.

“McKay! McKay!” Before I can even get out of my truck, Luke is all over me, practically jumping on the windshield like Dog used to do when he was younger. But when I give him the look, he simmers down a bit and backs off. I thinking figure people are watching us from the windows. I know they aren’t, but I still can’t help but think it.

“Dude, how ya been?”

I look around, and because the school day is half-over and the parking lot is deserted, but I don’t want to risk a security guard finding us out here, I hold them off a little longer.

“I’m not giving you anything.”

“Dude, we’re starting to feel the pain here.”

As if I cared.

Then Anderson makes that whiny sound in the back of his throat and Ryan is scratching at the sores that have formed on his arms over the last few weeks and I am thinking: college, college, college. Out, out, out.

So I dangle a possibility in front of them.

Interview with author of Unteachable, Leah Raeder!

Leah has kindly granted me an interview and I'm excited to share it with you today! Be sure to check out Leah’s website for all the details about UNTEACHABLE. I did a review of her debut book here a few days ago. We asked our twitter followers to submit questions for Leah. Read on for her thoughts about her book, superpowers, and random stuff !!

Sweet or savory? Sweet.
Black or white? White, because it's the combination of all colors visible to the human eye.
Coffee or tea? Coffee, black.
Dog-ear or bookmark? Kindle!   (Bless the overused Kindles in the world... *stare towards my kindle*)
Cats or dogs? I'm super neurotic, so obviously, cats.
Reading or writing? This question is evil. I can't choose.
Vampires, zombies, or werewolves? Zombies, definitely. My first book was about zombies.
Favorite season? Spring.
Wine, spirit, or cocktail? Bourbon. (Me: A fellow whiskey drinker. Yay!)

Book you most want to see turned into a movie?
I'd love to see an AMC miniseries of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, about the colonization of the Red Planet, since we'll be doing that soon for real.

What's your party trick?
Does beating everyone at Scrabble count?

Your perfect breakfast consists of...
Black coffee, yogurt with fruit and granola. (I'm not a hipster douchebag, I swear. I don't even own any Apple products!)
Me: You're so healthy! tehehe, don't worry... i'm sure the hipsters and the Apple fans won't judge you *angelface*

If you had a superpower, which one would it be?
Super-fast healing, like Claire on Heroes. Imagine what you could do if you no longer feared death or dismemberment.
Me: In my head, i'm picturing everybody try to chop each other off, to see how many time they could heal. Yeah, creepy~

1. Can you tell us three fun facts about you?
1) I'm half-Persian.
2) I don't own a single dress or skirt.
3) I skipped kindergarten and second grade.

Me: Wow, that must be cool to be half Persian. You're the first person i know to not have at least one skirt and/or dress!

2. Can you tell us what a typical day Leah Raeder day is like?
It's incredibly lame. Wake up, caffeinate, sit down at keyboard with the sincere intention of writing something, then mess around on the internet all day and go to bed feeling guilty for not writing.

When I actually write, my boyfriend, who has a sixth sense for knowing when I'm being productive, ensures it doesn't last long.

Me: I swear internet is like a supermassive black hole, sucks everyone's attention and got weird stuff coming out of it (Gosh, that's sounds so wrong after i typed that. I didn't meant it in the pervy way btw)

3. What made you take a leap and become a writer?
I knew since I was a little kid that I wanted to be an author when I grew up. I was always crazy about reading, and I started writing from a very young age. It's been my lifelong dream.

4. What got you to write in the New Adult genre?
I gravitated naturally toward New Adult—it just didn't have a name until recently. I love stories about people in their late teens/early 20s, but I tend to write stuff that's too dark, gritty, or graphic for YA. So when NA was recognized as a category, I thought: Finally. This is where I've always belonged.

5. How was the title created?
It was kind of a joke. There are so many New Adult books titled "Un"-something, so I thought, "Har har, how about Unteachable?" I'd planned to change it to something less silly before release, but then got lazy and decided to just embrace the ridiculousness of it.

Me: I like the tittle, i thought it's like a metaphor of the story.

6. How did you feel when you first started to write Unteachable?
I was pretty depressed, honestly. I've written about my struggle to get traditionally published here. When I wrote Unteachable this summer, it felt like my last ditch attempt to make a career out writing. I'd basically given up hope of ever making a living doing this, so I stopped caring about trying to do everything the "right" way, and let myself write without holding anything back.

Me: I'm glad you didn't gave up. Unteachable become a phenomenal book!

7. Where did your ideas for the stories come from? Did you include events inspired by your own life events or someone you know?
People keep asking this. :D It's not autobiographical, and I did not base it on real people or events. It's merely fiction.

I've just always been obsessed with teacher/student romances. I've read a ton of books and watched a ton of movies about this trope, but none of them quite satisfied me. They tend to either sugarcoat the taboo and downplay it, or they end in disaster and heartbreak. I wanted a teacher/student romance where the taboo was front and center, but didn't destroy the relationship. And I couldn't find that anywhere else, so I wrote it myself.

Me: You surely hit the spot for literature market. It's definitely a book like no other in the market.

8. What has been your biggest challenge with writing Unteachable?
See #6. Basically, turning off my inner editor. The little voice that constantly says, "This is stupid. This sucks. No one's going to like it or understand it or buy it. Just stop."

9. If you could go back and change any part of the novel, what would it have been?
It's far from perfect, but I honestly wouldn't change anything. It's taken me a long time to learn how to let go of my writing, to let it stand on its own. I'm one of those obsessive types who tweaks and edits CONSTANTLY, so it was terrifying to finally click the upload button on Amazon. But it was liberating, too. I'm free from the book now, and it's free from me. Everything I learned from it will go into the next book, which will also be imperfect, and that book will teach me how to write a better one...and so on.

10. Why did you decide to write in first person instead of third?
It's funny—all my other stuff is in third person limited. It's my favorite POV. But this story just had to be in first. Maise has such a strong and distinct voice that it wouldn't have worked otherwise.

Me: I'm glad (and i'm sure other readers as well) you chose to write it in the first person POV.

11. Your characters are so well built, so deep & real. What kind of process or research do you go through when fleshing them out?
Thank you! I think my process is pretty typical: I start with a handful of interesting traits, then drill down into the character's history to find the events and experiences that shaped them. As I unearth their history, other traits will surface to make a fuller picture. Maise began as this confident, seductive, cynical voice in my head, and when I thought about what made her that way, an entire history and psychology emerged that just seemed inevitable. It felt more like meeting someone who already existed in a parallel universe rather than making her up.

12. Who is your favorite character?
Maise, for sure. Siobhan is my second favorite.

Me: Maise O'Malley seems so popular with the readers, she is quite the enigma.

13. Which character is most/least like you and in what way?
Most like me: Wesley. We're both nerds, never the type to jump into the spotlight, like Maise, but always in love with people like her.

Least like me: Hiyam. She's perennially bored with life, despite having every opportunity to live however she wants.

14. What are Evan and Maise's greatest and worst personality traits?
Maise's best: Confidence, courage, passion, intensity, humor.
Worst: Arrogance, cynicism, naivete, condescension.

Evan's best: Sensitivity, compassion/caring, intelligence, selflessness, vulnerability.
Worst: Self-doubt, evasiveness, tendency to brood, fatalism.

15. What's the fate of the pony doll?
Hahaha, I ♥ you for asking this. It's in Evan's luggage. It goes on to begin a new life in Los Angeles. :D

Me:   <- (literally, i grinned like a psycho pony after this news)

16. Is there a message in your novel that you want the readers to grasp?
Nope. I am sure there are plenty of messages in the book, and the awesome thing is that everyone gets something different out of it. I don't preach to readers; everyone gets to make up their own minds..

Me: I totally agree with you! one person's experience doesn't mean the others have the same thing.

17. Do you have any funny experience whilst writing Unteachable?
I was drunk for most of it, so I can't really remember. That's kind of funny, right? The alcoholic writer cliché? Now I just need fifty cats and a shotgun and I'll be Hemingway.
Me: As Mr. Hemingway said himself, "write drunk, edit sober". I guess it's the secret recipe for making a phenomenal book, though i don't recommend to drink excessively.

Thank you Leah to spare some time for my interview! Good Luck and all the best for your future books! I'm looking forward to it~

A love strong enough to survive even the toughest challenge…or is it?

From the moment he told her, Ava never doubted Enzo’s love for her. How could she? He spent every day of his life making sure she felt it. Through every trial, the couple has only come out stronger for it. She was confident that no matter what challenge life had in store, she and Enzo’s love would endure.

Just as Ava’s dreams for the future fall into place something happens that she never imagined. Still, she knows with Enzo by her side, happiness is always just around the corner. What Ava doesn’t know is a threat she thought was long gone is back and will stop at nothing to take everything that is precious  away from her.

A love, even as strong as theirs, can only be tested so much before it breaks. Can Enzo and Ava’s love survive their toughest challenge yet? Will Enzo’s love be enough to keep Ava safe or is she better off away from the only man she’s ever loved? Will they ever get the happily ever after they deserve?

Book three is the final installment of the Sunflower Trilogy.

I close my eyes and try to calm my rattled nerves. I can’t believe the fucking nerve of this woman. I know I have to talk to Enzo and find out what he knows about this. I can’t imagine that he saw her and would keep that from me.

I dial his cell phone but my hands are shaky. I wait patiently for him to answer, knowing he had meetings at Girasole that morning, and wondering just what I’m going to say if he tells me he saw her.

“Ciao, amore,” Enzo answers, cheerfully.

“Enzo, Anna called me.” I don’t waste any time on pleasantries.

“Anna fucking called me and said she’s already been in contact with you. Tell me she’s lying.”

His sudden silence makes my heart sink. “Are you keeping secrets from me, Enzo?” I ask in utter disbelief.

“We need to talk about this when we both get home.”

“You saw her? You fucking saw her and didn’t tell me?!” I yell into the phone.

“Calm down, Ava.”

“Calm down?! Why the fuck haven’t I heard about it until now. Do you know how fucking humiliating this is to me to hear it from her?”

“Ava, stop swearing at me.”

“Don’t fucking tell me what to do!”

Enzo takes a deep breath. “Ava, this is something I wanted to discuss with you but I was waiting for the right time. I refuse to do this over the phone.”

“I can’t even begin to imagine how you’re going to explain this to me. She’s not even supposed to be anywhere near us. Why haven’t you had her arrested yet?”

“I said we’ll discuss it in person.”

“Well then you better stop whatever you are doing right now and meet me at the house.”

I slam down the phone, the only time I’ve ever hung up on my husband. My blood is fucking boiling right now. I know in my heart that I am not going to like what I hear. Suddenly his secretive behavior is starting to make a lot more sense.
