Jen receives an offer that could launch her career to new heights. Typically strong and independent, she finds herself at a loss spinning in an ocean of self-doubt and insecurity. When the offer becomes an ultimatum, will she have to sacrifice one for the other?
Enlightening and profoundly moving, Sunrise Fires is the perfect combination of romance, suspense, and erotic pleasure. Emotionally connect with heartwarming characters in this riveting story of self-discovery that follows Jen's journey into, through, and beyond her insecurities.

Rating: 3 Stars!

Sunrise fires was surprisingly quite fluffy sweet for an erotica, there's a lot of angst at the last half of the novel and I believe a lot of readers would fall in love with Ryan! Warning: this standalone will eat your heart out.

In this book, Ryan has been in relationship with Jen for quite a while. Jen who has suffered two failed marriages previously finally found 'the one' in Ryan. They are a perfect match in every way. But nothing falls smoothly in books, and the couple faces the biggest challenge of all, that could make them - or break them.

Insecurities is such an irritating thing, it have the potential of breaking people lives to such a great extent. Jen's insecurities hinder her from enjoying and appreciating of the good life she has. She pushes away people, especially Ryan (poor Ryan) from her believing that they will leave her someday. Ryan really saved her from herself. There's naivety in Jen's ideal, she thought being very constant in life would not cause any problem. Well, doesn't she need the Queen of life experience (aka Karma) to teach her a lesson?

People changes constantly, no one stops learning until they die (ask Einstein). Experiences are the one that define us, and change us for the better. If you scared to change and move forward, then what's the point of life?

I get that it is quite hard to balance personal life and business life, especially if a great opportunity is within grasp. Well, Jen is on a whole lotta ride for this juggling.

Ryan is the knight with the shining armour and the whole white horse female fantasy. I thought he was a bit like Logan Thibault from The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. He got the whole sugary, fluffy, too-perfect-to-be-realistic flair about him. I have no doubt a lot of readers would love his personality. Trust me, he got a patient of a buddha (and a stamina of Olympians on steroids).

He's my favourite main character of this story, as he bear all those drama Jen throws at him and he still believe in her, in their relationship, and their future.

Thumbs up for LaBarge for the whole emotional roller coaster towards the end. Jen has to sort out the result of her action, and it didn't come easy (Thankfully).

Will they survive the drama? or was that the end of their road?
Let's just say, thank gosh it's not a cliffhanger.

Description

Indy Rowntree's acting career isn't exactly taking off. Her agent is scraping the bottom of the barrel to find her roles – and she's just been knocked back from playing the part of a tomato. Only her friends and job at one of Melbourne's coolest bars are keeping her sane.
Irishman Luke Hunter is in Australia to escape his own problems. He has good reasons for avoiding love but he just can't seem to stay away from vivacious Indy. And then, just when things are looking up for both of them, a mutual friend starts meddling...
A witty, fast-paced love story with a wonderful cast of characters who will have you laughing out loud.
Rating: 3 Stars

This book was a nice quick read, i really enjoy reading it. The characters were likeable, the dialogues were engaging and the ending was so adorable!

So Indy has been an aspiring actress in Australia for a while, her agent - poor Indy, has quite a rusty skills to land her a groundbreaking jobs other than ridiculous auditions. Her friends has been really supportive of her and her aspiring career.

One day, Mr. Hunter and his poor Aussie knowledge happens to stumble upon the bar, and the whole journey begun.

First of all, is it just me or that the couple on the cover looks like Chris Pine & Charlize Theron?

Anyway, the story got a good catchy introduction, me as a reader got curious by the mystery of this curious man and Indy and her 'Bridget Jones' luck on career life. The story line was kind of mild fizz throughout, which is unfortunate as i could see this story could be more explosive (especially for the climax).

Character wise, they are distinguishable. They got a bit of awkwardness in them, perhaps they were moderately shy.. but their interactives were like watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother for some reason...

However the ending was an adorable HEA. It was believable on Indy's side, but Luke's was a bit too fantasy for me.. some readers may love it, a fairytale ending is popular within the demographic of this genre.

Are you a fairytale reader? or perhaps other genres?

Exclusive

Deleted Scene from PLAYING WITH HER HEART

Explanation from Lauren: This deleted scene takes place in chapter 15 prior to the Jill and Davis’ second private rehearsal, which will be more familiar to readers as before the “piano scene.” I had originally written this scene where Jill rehearses with Patrick, and Davis’ reaction to it. But I then decided that I’d rather show Jill and Davis rehearsing. Plus, I felt readers already knew and understood the depths of Davis’ jealousy at this point and that the additional scene showing it wasn’t necessary. I also nixed it because I decided that Patrick was not falling in love with Jill, as Davis surmises from this scene. But, just for fun, here it is from the cutting room floor!!!

xoxo

Lauren

Thirty minutes later, I am coiled full of tension from watching Patrick run his hands through Jill’s hair, from the way she responds, leaning her head back into him, from how she breathily whispers one of the last lines in the scene, “it feels so good,” her microphone taking the words on a trip around the whole theater, up to the proscenium arch and two boxes and back.

“End scene,” Shannon calls out.

I run a hand across my chin roughly. Steel myself, then stand up, walk to the edge of the stage, place a palm against the floorboards as Jill and Patrick look at me expectantly.

“That’s a great start. Now, Patrick what I want you to work on next is really capturing the change in Paolo. This scene is the moment when he starts to soften around her. When he shifts from being the hard ass teacher and into the tender lover he will become. Look for those moments in between the words,” I say, giving him the full, honest truth of what his performance needs, even though if pains every bone in my body to instruct him like this.

He nods several times, taking it in. He’s a pro, and I know he’ll knock this scene out of the park as he always does. He doesn’t command his name on the marquee for nothing. The man can sell tickets for a reason.

Then I turn to Jill. She’s nibbling on her lower lip nervously. She stops when she meets my gaze. I do my best to give away nothing as I talk to her. “For Ava, I really see this moment as the one when it clicks for her. That she’s been confused and unsure for so long about Paolo. Is he just the professor? Is he merely a difficult teacher? Or is there something more? But then they are in the studio working and her hair is a mess and full of paint, and her hands are covered in it, and this is when she understands not only that he has feelings for her, but that she’s falling hard for him too.”

“Thank you. That makes sense,” she says, like a good student.

“Are we going okay on the blocking?” Patrick asks. “It’s a little unformed at this point.”

“You’re doing fine. We’ll get it finalized soon. For now, run it again,” I say, and I return to my seat, feeling absolutely spent from having to tell the two of them to show me more of them falling in love.

Another rounds later, they’re closer to nailing it, and I’m sure I’ll knock the punching bag from its chains the next time I’m at the gym. When Patrick asks to do the scene one final time, I’m about to explode with a resounding “No.” Instead, I keep it all inside, as I manage through gritted teeth, “Of course let’s get it right.”

I watch one final time, even though it’s fucking eating away at me to see him touch her. Before he even starts the scene, he looks at her with softness in his eyes, and and I know he’s starting to fall for her too. That he’s not merely acting. That he’s only playing a part. The two are starting to blend, and this is why actors all over the world fall for actors. This is why you hear stories of movie set romances, because they aren’t stories. They’re true. There is little, I imagine, more intoxicating than pretending to be in love with someone. After a while, reality and fiction bleed over, and you fall in love for real.

When the scene ends, the stage manager calls take five and Patrick tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear, flashing her that matinee idol smile of his that melts women. I swallow, close my eyes, clench my fists. Selfishly, I had hoped it would all be unrequited. I had hoped it was a one-way thing on her part. But that was stupid of me. I’m falling for her, and he is too.
